Hybrid working in a multi-tenant environment: from complexity to grip on security

DXC Technology is a global IT service provider that supports organizations in designing, building and managing IT and cloud solutions.

In the Netherlands, DXC Technology is based in Rijswijk. Work is largely hybrid: partly from home and partly in the office. This flexible way of working requires a well thought-out approach to company safety and FAFS, in which insight, availability and fast communication are essential.
‘Because we work largely hybrid, the staffing in the office changes every day. Then you can no longer rely on fixed FAFSA lists.”
Richard de Hilster
Head of FAFS

The challenge: changing staffing in a multi-tenant work environment

At DXC Netherlands, hybrid working is the standard. Employees alternate between working at home and at the office, which means that the staffing is constantly changing. This makes organizing FAFS and company safety complex: you need to know at any moment whether the staffing is safe and adequate, without being able to count on fixed attendance.
On top of that, DXC shares the Rijswijk office with ten other organizations. In such a multi-tenant environment, it is essential that roles, responsibilities and communication are clearly established. An incident at one organization can directly impact others in the building.

The solution: complete control and visibility in one environment

To get a grip on FAFS and corporate safety in a hybrid work environment, DXC Netherlands opted for one central solution that combines insight, availability and communication.
Roles such as FAFS, first aid and shift leaders are set up for each tenant. The FAFS protocols are also tailored for each organization so that each tenant can act independently in the event of an incident. In the event of an incident, rapid upscaling and coordination with other organizations in the building is immediately possible.
According to Head of FAFS Richard de Hilster, another key improvement is the link between Findwhere and the fire alarm control center (BMC).
”Where it previously took 10 to 15 minutes to determine the location of a fire, we now have insight within seconds thanks to the BMC link.”
– Richard de Hilster

Results & impact

Since the introduction of Findwhere, DXC is seeing improvements:
  • Aantoonbare compliance door actuele rapportage-inzichten
  • Koppeling met de Brandmeldcentrale wat snelle actie mogelijk maakt in geval van brand.
  • Grip op rollen en communicatie in een multi-tenant omgeving
Richard summarizes:
”Getting people on the ground quickly with the right information, that’s key how we deploy Findwhere”
