As a FAFS coordinator or Head of FAFS, you know: managing safety is more than just one fire drill a year. Yet we see it happen often, certificates expiring, unclear responsibilities, and FAFS officers not being there when really needed.

The question is simple: can your organization demonstrate corporate security today?

Why a FAFS checklist is not a luxury

Setting up an effective FAFS organization is not easy. You have to deal with changing schedules, home workers, leaves of absence, renovations and seasonal crowds. And in the meantime, you want to be sure that qualified FAFS personnel are available at all times.

The crucial areas of concern for any FAFS organization

1. Organization and responsibilities

It starts with the basics: who is ultimately responsible? Are the roles clear – Head of FAFS, coordinator, first aider? And perhaps more importantly, does everyone actually know this?

2. Occupancy and availability

Having enough FAFS personnel is one thing. Making sure they are actually there is another. Think about leave, breaks, working from home and shifts. Will someone be available at all times?

3. Skills and certification

Expired certificates are a common problem. And do the skills of your FAFS personnel match the risks in your organization?

4. Locations and risk zones

Do you know exactly where the high-risk areas are? Are escape routes still up to date after a renovation? And more importantly, are AEDs, first aid kits and fire extinguishers findable when it matters?

5. Alerting and communication

How do you report an incident? Does the alarm reach the right people immediately? And what happens if no one responds? FAFS software can make the difference here between chaos and overview.

6. Visitors and externals

Visitor safety is a responsibility that is often underestimated. Do the FAFS officers within your organization know exactly which visitors are inside and where they are? And how are visitors informed in the event of an emergency?

7. Continuity and compliance

Safety is not a one-time project. Is your FAFS organization reviewed annually? Do you evaluate after drills? And can you prove that everything is in order?

Is your corporate security well organized?

Ask yourself the following questions:

  • Weet je nu, of er op ieder moment voldoende BHV’ers beschikbaar zijn?
  • Zijn alle certificaten geldig?
  • Kun je direct de juiste mensen alarmeren?
  • Weet je waar bezoekers zich bevinden?

If you are unsure on any of these questions, it is time for action. Make sure you are always prepared and don’t overlook anything. Download our free FAFS checklist and map out safety within your organization today.
