Jaap has more than 20 years of experience in the wireless and location industry. He founded FindWhere in 2001 after a brief stint of retirement. After successfully selling a business, Jaap went sailing in the Bahamas. In the face of piracy, he wanted to keep track of his boat, and keep family and friends appraised of his location. Jaap went to work with a buddy, a few glasses of wine, and the Bahama breeze at his back. Within 12 hours, he developed a solution that allowed him to track his boat and share his location, and was lured to explore the fantastic potential of location on a full-time basis.
Today, under his leadership, FindWhere is considered the global leader in precision tracking and location based services. Prior to launching FindWhere, Jaap founded Triptech International, a logistics information systems software company, which he eventually sold to Qualcomm. In his earlier days of entrepreneurship, Jaap founded Roadshow Europe, a leading player in the routing and scheduling industry and the first to market with maps on computers. Jaap is fluent in 4 languages and is an avid snowboarder. He resides in France with his family.
